It's hard to believe Chase isn't even supposed to be born yet. I have to remind myself that he still has 2 weeks before he is supposed to be born. It's easy to get frustrated and impatient because he's not progressing as fast as we would like or hope. But the poor little guy missed out on 9 weeks of very important and peaceful tummy time. Chase is pretty much status quo today. Although they did increase his feedings, his respiratory status didn't change too much today. He has alot of secretions, so they did a chest x-ray to rule out pnuemonia or infection. We haven't heard the results on that yet. He has definitely found the trach and the tubes and likes to pull on those as well as everything else he can find. He's even disconnected the tubes from the trach a couple times. He's skillful when it comes to things like that. Before the surgery Wednesday, he somehow bent his IV in his hand into the shape of a 'z'. I think we have a little Houdini on our hands.
Chase had lots of visitors today. Family friends Jim and Vicky Naber, and Patty and Doug Gerdel, along with Mom and Dad came up for a visit before their night on the town. It was great having them meet Chase. They're a great support!
