Chase is still on track to come home Wednesday! Tomorrow he'll get the stitches out from around the g-tube, and hopefully that will ease some of the pain and discomfort he's still feeling. He recieved his immunizations today. I think we may need to add that to his lists of dislikes :) But as long as he's got his vanilla binkie, he can endure pretty much anything. Chris and I are looking forward to staying overnight in the hospital tomorrow and Tuesday. This should really help our comfort level with everything. I guess it's kind of like a hotel room, with room service and everything! :) It's located right around the corner from the NICU, and we'll have a nurse assigned to us in case we need anything. It's hard to believe after nearly 100 days in the hospital, he's finally about to come home!!!
A Poem for Chase
-written by Chris
Thanks Chase for coming into our lives,
Each day for us you do nothing but surprise,
Your beautiful blue eyes, your smile,
It's made the long wait so worthwhile,
Seeing you grow and change each day,
Makes us so proud of you in every way!
You are so lucky having such great friends,
Writing and visiting, caring without end.
More special is the family that loves you,
Through good and bad days, always remaining true.
All we know is that we are so blessed,
A courageous little boy unlike all the rest.

What a pleasure to see all of you today! As Daddy writes, Chase is a courageous little guy who continues to amaze his friends. Our prayers for a successful stay at the "Children's Mercy Hotel" are with you.
Great news you guys. We just got back from a trip to Minnesota, so we have been offline for about a week, and boy, what a week it has been for you guys. Sounds like things are going well and Chase looks Great! If you ever need anything, please let us know, we are still here for you anytime, day or night, just give us a call. Good luck with the homecoming... we will be thinking of you. And as for the home nursing, in Ohio, there is the Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps (BCMH). If you apply, there are nurses that come to your home through the State. I am sure you and your D/C planner have looked into this for the State of Missouri... I will try to do some digging over the next few days and will drop Chris an email if I find anything. Congrats you guys! Good luck at HOME!!! :-)

I'm so happy for all of you. It is so exciting to see he gets to go home. Hippee!! LOTS OF ICE CREAM. On your first trip to Clinton I think we should have a huge ice cream social! You and Chris have really been blessed with a courageous little boy. God bless!

Chris, "you're a poet but we didn't know it." What a great tribute to your son! We also know much of Chase's success is due to you & Katie!!! Will keep you close at heart these next two nights....
Love, Jim & Vic
The poem is beautiful. When Bob and I read it, we thought of mom-mom right away. You have her gift. I know she is smiling down on all of you everyday and sending Chase lots of love. You and Katie are amazaing and Chase is so lucky to be loved so much. We keep you in our prayers and look forward to hearing about Chase's homecoming!
