So Happy!
Chase had a big day. It started out with his MRI at 9am, for which they sedated him. When we got there this afternoon, he was still pretty tired, but started to kind of wake up and open his eyes about 2pm. Then I attempted to breast feed with the help of the lactation nurse. That didn't go so well. So we gave him the bottle. Chris and I said, "Chase, you would make our day, week, month, if you finished this bottle". Sure enough, 65 mls later, he completely finished his bottle and probably could have kept going. So our day, week, month was made complete. Yay Chase! He continues to live up to his Rock Star nickname. And he set a new record to beat tomorrow.
We also met the new 3rd year resident, who we really like, and a team of neurosurgeons who were consulted regarding the MRI results. I think my heart skipped a few beats when they showed up, introduced themselves, and said there was something concerning they saw on the MRI. I felt like I did during my ultrasound when the doctor said "your baby might have Downs Syndrome or a form of dwarfism". But what they saw is narrowing of the spinal column at the first cervical vertebrae, which isn't a problem yet, but something they have to keep an eye on as Chase grows. It may be something he would need surgery for down the road, or something that grows with him. So we were relieved it wasn't something more serious.
Chris and I did Chase's trach change today. We're really getting in a routine with that, and each time it gets a little bit easier. Chase is getting used to it as well.
This week has been such a great week! We know so many people are praying for Chase and his progress. And we attribute this great week of progress to your prayers! I believe God is listening and answering our prayers! I can't tell you how uplifting and comforting it is to read the comments on this blog and to know so many people care! Thank You Thank You Thank You!!!
