Chase's due date is today. We've had this date in our heads for so long now, with so much anticipation. I remember learning the due date and it seemed so far away at the time. We felt like we had so much time to prepare and adjust to our new addition. Now I can hardly remember what it was like to be pregnant with Chase. In many ways, the day he was born seems so long ago, and in othe ways, it seems like yesterday. But I can't imagine life without Chase now. I walked in today to see Chase swinging away in his swing, bright eyed and smiley. Life was good :) Chase weighed 6lbs 3oz tonight and has been steadily gaining over the last several days. He has been doing pretty well with his feeds. He did great with the 30 min feeds last night, but threw-up this morning, so they went back to running them over 1 hour, then 45 min, and they're trying over 30 minutes again tonight. Occupational therapy saw him this afternoon and assessed his sucking/swallowing capabilities. He did pretty well and they will try bottle feeding next week if he tolerates his feeds over the weekend. He's still on 30% oxygen, but we had it unhooked a few different times for several minutes, and he kept his sats up. So hopefully that can be weaned some more. He has a little bit of skin breakdown and yeast infection around his neck where the collar is that holds his trach. I guess this isn't that uncommon with trachs. So they just put Nystatin powder on his neck twice daily, and that should clear it up. He's still getting iron, the diuretic, and sodium chloride. I think we're going to go buy his car seat this weekend...yay! We don't have to worry about the 5lb minimum anymore :)
