Chase was upgraded to a crib! It's much more spacious than his shoebox. So that's progress, right? They've also turned down his oxygen more to 30%....yay!!! Tonight might have to be another ice cream night :) He's getting an upper GI test tomorrow, and then the swallow study Thursday. These are to evaluate him for reflux. They took a sample Sunday of his secretions and were going to test them to see if there was any sign of formula/milk in the secretions, which would indicate aspiration, but they lost the sample. So they are checking that again today. He's still throwing up occasionally :( His weight is now 5lbs 14oz, down from 6lbs 3oz the other day, but they think maybe the scale was off and the diuretic caused him to lose some water weight. There checking labs and doing another chest x-ray tomorrow, so hopefully those look good!

Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Yay for Chase! I'll say prayers that his tests go well the next few days. I can't wait to visit him in his crib!

I've been anxious about Chase from the beginning and just today received the link to your blog. We will pray for Chase's continued improvement and that you will continue to see that God is holding your little guy in palm of His hand. My 5-year-old niece spent the first seven months of her life at St. Luke's and Children's Mercy after her arrival eight weeks early. She starts kindergarten in a few weeks and is a miracle. So is Chase. Keep the faith. Deanna Hendrich

Hi Katie and Chris,

It's so great to hear that Chase is in a crib. Now, if the test results are good, you can go eat more ice cream. You're in our thoughts and prayers all the time.
Love,
Aunt Shari and Uncle Bob
