Happy Day

Chase had another good day. They lowered the ventilator settings more and hope to have him off the vent by tomorrow. We'll feel so much better once he's off the vent. The attending physician said his chest x-ray looked great, so they've stopped the breathing treatments. Tomorrow they change out his trach and give him the new flexible trach. Chris and I will be there to watch and learn...a little nervous about that. His double chin seems to be getting bigger (a good problem at this stage) :), so this new trach should be more comfortable for him. He seems to be used to having a trach now and isn't tugging at the tubes quite as much.
So lots of reasons to celebrate. Chris and I treated ourselves to ice cream in celebration....we're always looking for reasons to celebrate :)
Chase's favorite nurse, Amy, from St. Lukes came to visit today too. She's been there from the very beginning, and is such a wonderful support and friend, and like family. I wish I could put into words how thankful we feel for all the support, love, and concern we've recieved from so many people! We truly could not get through this hardship without you! We are so blessed!

I wanted to let you know, I am praying for you also. I heard from Julie Dody today what you have been experiencing.
I remember watching you grow up in high school and thought what a beautiful spirit you are inside and out, as your family is as well.
It is heart warming to see your faith and love helping to cope with your dear son's difficulties.
May God continue to Bless your family and bring you through this!
In God's Love,
Annette Haldiman

So great to hear that Chase is doing better - praying that you have many more "ice cream celebrations" days to come!
