Let the Countdown Begin!

We're getting so close to bringing Chase home we can hardly stand it. They're thinking mid-week next week we'll be discharged. He's doing great with the bottle again, and with the tube feeds. So now we're just working on getting a feeding schedule figured out. The plan now will be to feed him every 4 hours by bottle during the day, and then he'll get continuous feeds via the g-tube at night. Chase weighs 7 lbs 13 oz now. He'll probably be 8lbs when he comes home! We met with our discharge planner today and talked about our comfort level with all of Chase's care. Since we'll go home without any nursing care, they want to make sure we can handle everything, especially the trach care and trach changes. Chris and I feel fairly comfortable with everything, but we're going to spend the next few days really fine tuning our skills :) I think the trach change is the scariest most difficult thing, but luckily we only have to do that twice a week. We also had our CPR and trach training class today. We're so thankful to have Mom, Dad, and good friends Vicky and Amy attend as well to learn and help us take care of Chase if we ever need it. The time next week, God willing, we'll all be comfy and cozy in our own home!!

How exciting to be so close! You have made good decisions for him and serve him well as advocates--now and soon at home. ; ) Hope to see you before you leave CM!! Thank you for being so faithful with this blog and allowing us to share Chase's journey.
