6 Months Old

I can't believe Chase is already 6 months old. I know it sounds so cliche, but it seems like yesterday he was 6 weeks old, literally. But then I think back to what we were going through when he was 6 weeks old, about to get trached, and it feels like a lifetime ago. I went back through the blog tonight, looking at pictures, reading the comments, and reminiscing about the last 6 months. I'm overjoyed with how far Chase has come, and with all the love and support we've received from so many people. Praise God for family and friends, and caring people, and lots of answered prayers!!!
Chase has had a pretty good week so far. Chris and I came home Monday, and Chase was so happy he was actually laughing, not just smiling, but laughing. I wish we had run to get his Pasy-Muir (speaking valve) to stick on his trach so we could have heard him laugh. We've only put it on him a hand full of times, for only a few seconds at a time before he blows it off. It allows him to inhale, but then he has to exhale through this nose/mouth which forces the air through his vocal cords. But he's not used to breathing out through his nose/mouth, so he ends up just exhaling hard enough that it blows the valve off. They said he'll have to get used to it. Anyway, it was fun to see him laughing. He usually sleeps through the night now and the doc told us we don't have to wake him for his 1am feeding. So that is great! We got back to the doctor, and hearing/speech clinic, and ortho docs in the next couple weeks. So I'm anxious to see what he weighs now and how they think he's doing.
