Carpe Diem

Chase seems to be doing very well! He sleeps pretty good, and when he's awake he likes to be held and he looks around with so much curiosity. I would love to know what he's thinking sometimes. When we talk to him and play with him he smiles, and our days our complete. We try to seize every moment and enjoy each day with Chase because we know how fast time goes. Chris and I are getting more and more comfortable with our new life with each passing day, and loving it more and more. We changed out Chase's trach at home for the first time today and it went perfect. We still get nervous, and both take big sighs of relief when we're finished. That too will get easier with experience I'm sure. Chase still isn't doing that great with the bottle and averages only about 30 mls of the 85 mls. So thank goodness for the g-tube. But he's doing better and better with the breastfeeding. So we'll see what the doctor thinks at his appointment next week. He definitely feels like he's gaining weight, and seems to be getting stronger. We can't wait for it to cool down so we can get him out and take him for a walk. We're starting to get a little bit of cabin fever, so we try and take turns getting out to run errands or take Max for a walk around the block. The short walk is much needed since we've had ice cream each night since Chase has come home. We're not through celebrating :)

No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead ~ Philippians 3:13, NLT
