1 more day!!!

Chris and I survived our first overnight with Chase. It got off to a rough start. He was very agitated and uncomfortable for a good two hours when we were trying to feed him. We had two nurses come in and try to help us console him. Chris and I kept looking at each other like how in the world are we going to do this by ourselves at home. It took nearly all four of us, one to hold the binkie, one to hold his arms and legs down, one to hold the tube feeds. We're doing what they call gravity feeds instead of using a pump, so we have to stand there and hold his feeds up until it all slowly runs in. Which isn't too bad unless he's moving all around. We ended up giving him some Tylenol b/c we thought his g-tube site was hurting him. That seemed to do the trick. So after the first couple ours it went great. All of his equipment and monitors that he'll go home on are pretty easy to use. Luckily he didn't set off any of the monitor alarms because they are deafening!!! We didn't get much sleep only because the smallest sound Chase would make we felt like we needed to get up and check on him. He really didn't need to be suctioned all that much overnight, and he slept great between feedings. So I think tonight will go even smoother!
Hopefully we'll get a good idea of our exit plan today. They tested him in his car seat for a good hour, and he did great. We received his stroller from the Fox 4 Love Fund that has shelves in back for all of his equipment. It's pretty snazzy! So ready or not, we'll all be home tomorrow!!! :) Oh, and we discovered room service delivers ice cream and sundaes!!! We were all over that celebrating our countdown!!!

Best wishes to you all. I expect to see you out on the trail walking soon! And he can wear his cap although it will be rather warm!
we're across the road for awhile I guess from the sound of things and your potential move so call if you need us.
Love,

I am so happy that all of you will be able to be home together. I think Chase will thrive even more being in his very own home, and that it will be the start of a great new chapter in all of your lives. My prayers will be with each of you daily in this next step of your journey.

I've been thinking about you in your CM Hotel Suite. When you get home, you can call us for room service ice cream. We can't wait to see a picture of Chase in his bumble bee room. Godspeed for your trip home!

Katie & Chris,

Hi, I am Chris's cousin Debbie from Maryland. We have been following Chase's journey, and are thrilled your big day has come! He is a beautiful, strong little guy, and continues to amaze all of us. I feel he is so blessed to have you both! We were able to catch up on Chase's progess a little when Chase's proud Grandparents came to Maryland recently for my daughter Nicole's wedding. Jim & June smiled from ear to ear whenever he was mentioned! Chris-your poem was beautiful and reminded me so much of Mom Mom's beautiful poems we all enjoyed as children and adults. She would be so proud of you! God bless and we will continue to keep you all in our prayers.

Love, Debbie Stanislav

Ahhh....going home, that certainly has a lovely sound. I always have found that sleeping in a hospital room is never a good restful sleep compared to your own bed. Here's a hint I was given when our first child was sick and I was clueless so did what I thought best, the hint said, "Don't worry about how good a parent you are, you are the only parent the baby has and he has noone to compare you with so he thinks whatever you do is okay." I think that's a confirming statement regarding how you are doing a great job.

Still in my prayers,
Jeanette

I am having difficulty finding the words to express my feelings of excitement for this long awaited day. I wish our family could all be at your door to welcome you home; can't wait to read your blog tomorrow. Remember your Heavenly Father is watching over you with the same love and concern that you are showing Chase and will provide what you need from His unlimited grace.
