A Nice Surprise! :)

They put Chase on the surgery schedule for tomorrow to have the g-tube placement and fundo. Then at 5pm the doctor came by and said, "we've decided to cancel the surgery tomorrow and put it on hold for now." Chase has consistently increased his oral feeds by 10% each day for the last 5 days or so. He's now getting about 60% by mouth. The doctor is hopeful that he'll keep progressing and that by the end of the week he'll be up to 75% to 80% oral. There's still a chance he'll need the surgery, but we are encouraged the doctor thinks he's made enough progress to wait and see. His progress seemed so slow up until now, and every procedure possibly needed always seemed to come about. It was easy to get discouraged. So we are very excited and hopeful that his only surgery is the tracheotomy! Our prayer, dream, and goal now is that he'll come home by our anniversary with only the trach, no more tubes.
My Aunt Shari came to visit Chase today and brought an inspirational pocket card she found in my late Nana's Bible. Nana was a true source of strength and inspiration to me!

The pocket card reads:
THE PRAYER OF FAITH
God is my help in every need;
God does my every hunger feed;
God walks beside me, guides my way,
Through every moment of the day.
I now am wise, I now am true,
Patient, kind, and loving too.
All things I am, can do, and be,
Through Christ, the Truth that is in me.
God is my health, I can't be sick;
God is my strength, unfailing, quick;
Gos is my all, I know no fear,
Since God and love and Truth are here.

That's fantastic news guys! I love the poem and will read it daily until Chase comes home. Visualize yourself in your living room holding and feeding Chase with no tubes! The power of intention is a mighty thing!!

Love you!

Praise God! So happy that Chase is impressing the doctors - a sign of things to come, no doubt. :) We know he will be home soon!

Hooray for Chase, Nana and our all-powerful God! We continue to hold you in our thoughts and prayers. IF you're still there next week, I'll be down to visit again. If not, I'll rejoice and come later to see Chase in his new Brookside home.
